KITSAP BANK AWARDED STRONG COMMUNITIES AWARD IN FHLB DES MOINES COMPETITION

Kitsap Bank was recently honored with the Strong Communities (Urban Category) Award in the FHLB Des Moines competition. FHLB annually honors the projects, people, and programs that promote small business growth and retention and also highlights the work that the FHLB’s member institutions are doing every day to help their communities thrive.  Kitsap Bank was one of just three financial institutions in thirteen states and three U.S. Pacific territories selected as a finalist.

Kitsap Bank was recognized for its edg3 FUND small business competition, which saw its inaugural year in 2014.  Committed to taking small businesses to the next level, Kitsap Bank’s edg3 FUND (rhymes with hedge fund) competition was created to recognize entrepreneurs dedicated to growing our community economically, socially, and environmentally.   The competition recently wrapped up its second year, with over 60 entrepreneurs from the Greater Puget Sound region vying for the cash prize of $20,000.  Olympia-based OlyKraut topped the live competition on November 12 in Bremerton, taking home the $20,000 prize.  For additional information on edg3 FUND, visit www.kitsapbank.com/edg3-fund

“We are extremely pleased to be recognized by the FHLB Strong Communities program, “remarks Tony George, Kitsap Bank President/COO.  “We are honored to stand alongside other financial institutions that have chosen to strengthen their local communities by promoting the growth of local small businesses.”

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines is a member-owned cooperative that provides funding solutions and liquidity to nearly 1,500 financial institutions to support mortgage lending, economic development and affordable housing in their communities.
