Bridgestone Corporation has received a 2015 VW Group Award in recognition of its achievement as one of Volkswagen Group’s best suppliers. The VW Group gives this award to a small number of international suppliers distinguished by their special innovative capabilities and very high reliability.
The award was presented by Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft,
and Dr. Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz, Member of the Board of Management responsible for Procurement at a special ceremony in Neuburg, Germany on 15th July 2015.
On behalf of Bridgestone Corporation the award was received by Mr. Franco Annunziato, President and CEO of Bridgestone Europe. “Bridgestone receives this Volkswagen Group Award with enormous pleasure and pride. It is the result of great teamwork and effort across Bridgestone divisions and business units” said Mr. Annunziato.
Commenting after the ceremony on why he believed Bridgestone had been selected for this award, Mr. Annunziato added: “I believe there are two main success factors. Firstly it represents strong endorsement of Bridgestone’s strategy to reorganize global operations to match Volkswagen Group’s expectations from a global supplier. Second is our commitment to develop state of the art technology to help Volkswagen Group meet reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emission targets.”
